Why See a Pediatric Dentist?
The current recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) is to bring your child to see a dentist by his/her first birthday.
A pediatric dentist completes an additional two years of specialty training, in which the focus is on preventing, identifying, diagnosing and treating dental issues in the pediatric patient. Pediatric dentists have received extensive training in infant and adolescent oral heath, behavior management techniques and treatment of the special needs patient. A pediatric dentist is proficient in developing individualized treatment approaches that are specific to each child’s age and developmental stage.
“We strongly feel that pediatric dental care is essential for giving children the proper foundation for a healthy life, from childhood through adolescence and beyond” AAPD
